Burls are wonderful to turn because they are full of surprises, and this one did not disappoint. The piece is about 10" x 2" with natural edge and exterior to expose the burl nature. The bowl portion has very tight, wild grain and many people who see this say it looks like it is made from stone. The flat rim portion shows strong burl structure, and there is quite a bit of the spiky texture on the bottom. The burl was harvested from the woods in SE Pennsylvania and was gifted to me by a fellow woodworker. This would make a delightful candy dish, change/key dish or nut bowl. It is signed on the bottom by the artist.
