Primordial Soup Bowl

This is a sculptural turning made from a red mallee burl.  The piece highlights the burl form, including the exterior surface and the interior wood grain, and it shows off the strong red tones that intensify towards the center.  Part of my "Paleomorphic Series" it evokes an early earth origin with the ripples of time focusing attention on the "soup bowl."

Both the piece and the base are made from red mallee burl, with steel connecting rods.  It stands 17" tall.
